Town of Renfrew and Renfrew Minor Hockey Enter Into Multi-Year Partnership
The Town of Renfrew is pleased to announce a multi-year partnership between the Town of Renfrew and the Renfrew Minor Hockey Association (RMHA) through the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding approved at the Regular Council Meeting of June 23, 2026. As part of this partnership, RMHA has presented the Town with a contribution of $125,517.00, funds that were held in trust by RMHA on behalf of the former Second Ice Pad Committee.
"On behalf of Renfrew Minor Hockey, I would like to sincerely thank the members of the Second Ice Pad Committee for their years of dedication, leadership, and tireless fundraising efforts. Their commitment helped turn a vision into a reality for a second ice pad in Renfrew," said Jordan MacMillan, President of the Renfrew Minor Hockey Association. "I would also like to recognize the late Jim Millar, whose passion, leadership, and unwavering belief in this project helped lay the foundation for its success. Jim's contributions to both the Second Ice Pad Committee and our community will not be forgotten.
"We are proud to transfer these funds to the Town of Renfrew. The new myFM Centre facility provides tremendous opportunities for hockey, figure skating, recreational programming, tournaments, and countless community events. Renfrew Minor Hockey looks forward to utilizing this outstanding facility and creating even more opportunities on the ice for Renfrew residents."
The Town of Renfrew extends its sincere appreciation to the RMHA and the many volunteers of the Second Ice Pad Committee whose vision, commitment, and fundraising efforts created a lasting legacy for the community. Their dedication serves as a reminder of the power of volunteerism and community fundraising in building amenities that enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages.
“I would like to sincerely thank Renfrew Minor Hockey for their partnership and stewardship of these funds," said Mayor Tom Sidney. "This contribution is a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision. The volunteers of the Second Ice Pad Committee devoted countless hours to fundraising and advocacy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing this important community asset to life."
