Ontario Taking Next Steps to Widen Highway 17 Between Renfrew and Arnprior

Press release from Ontario announcing RFP to widen Highway 17 to four lanes near the Town of Renfrew, boosting jobs, safety and trade.

The Province of Ontario has announced the next step in widening Highway 17 from two to four lanes between Arnprior and the Town of Renfrew. A Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued to advance the design of the 22.5-kilometre expansion, which will twin this critical corridor in Renfrew County.

Highway 17 is a vital link in the Trans-Canada highway system and an important route for residents, local businesses and the movement of goods across Eastern Ontario. The project will improve safety, reduce congestion, support economic growth and create good-paying construction jobs. The first stage of the project, including the new bridge and interchange at Calabogie Road, was completed in 2023.

The Town of Renfrew welcomes continued investment in infrastructure that strengthens connectivity, supports local industry and enhances quality of life for our community.
