Heritage designation is an important tool used to recognize and celebrate properties that contribute to the community’s history and identity, while also ensuring that any changes are carefully managed to protect their cultural heritage value for future generations. Designation applies to physical features such as buildings, structures, and landscapes, and does not impact property use, public access, or ownership rights.
The Town of Renfrew’s Heritage Register is maintained in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act, which requires municipalities to identify and document properties of cultural heritage value or interest.
