Town of Renfrew Adopts 2024 Budget

The $69.32 million budget was passed at the Council meeting on February 27th, 2024.

The Town of Renfrew has adopted the 2024 budget.

The $69.32 million budget was passed at the Council meeting on February 27th, 2024, and includes a tax levy of $11.1M for tax supported operating expenses, $2.9M for water, $2.7M for wastewater and $52M in capital work.

“We are paving the way to a brighter and better future,” says Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney. “The brand new myFM Centre Recreation Complex is opening to the public with six percent of the total road network in Renfrew to be replaced this year.” Mayor Sidney adds, “The Town of Renfrew is also planning to have several road projects shovel ready in 2024 with design work to be completed for an additional 12 percent of roads maintained by the Town.”

“This budget maintains current levels of service while also continuing operations at the McDougall Mill Museum, in house by-law enforcement and at the new myFM Centre Recreation Complex,” says Chief Administrative Officer Robert Tremblay.

“Contributions to reserves have been reduced in 2024 to limit the overall impact to residents as financing for the Ma-te-Way expansion project begins this year,” says Acting Treasurer Charlene Jackson. “The Town will allocate $4.1 million to reserves with an ending balance of $12.6 million in 2024.”

Water and sewer rates will increase by 2.5 percent with the Town portion of taxes to have a $183.97 impact per $100,000 in property assessment.
