It has come to the attention of the Town of Renfrew and Ontario Provincial Police that a new parking ticket scam is currently targeting residents in Renfrew and the surrounding area. 

The scam is called “Smishing”, which is done when a scammer takes over a phone number and uses it to try and fraudulently collect money and personal information from individuals. In this case, scammers are stating that the resident has an unpaid parking ticket with the Town.

Please note that the Town of Renfrew will never text or call you for payment on your unpaid parking tickets. When parking tickets are issued, they are left on vehicles or given out in person, and all follow-up is done through mail only.
