The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Records Management Student to assist in the organization’s record management, retention, and accessibility compliance initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Office of the CAO, including updating the corporate multi-year accessibility plan, projecting future needs, and identifying recommendations to ensure that the corporation is proactive in advocacy.
  • Provide on-going clerical support to ensure all administrative requirements of the Office of the CAO are met in a timely manner; this will include data entry, filing and creation of various spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the implementation of disability related initiatives and the joint multi-year accessibility plan.
  • Assist in the implementation of records retention and related initiatives.
  • Review legislation regarding accessibility and records retention and report back to the Office of the CAO as appropriate.
  • Identify accessibility issues, needs, resources, and opportunities for integrated accessibility planning across the corporation. Undertake research, analysis and gather information about legislation, technology advancements, best practices and community needs and trends as required.
  • Assist in the development and update of accessibility policies as required by legislation.
  • Strong technical skills to create and edit accessible documents under the Microsoft Office Suite as well as the Adobe PDF platform.
  • Assist with internal and external stakeholders and local municipal partners in the development, design, and maintenance of an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, including associated policy, procedure and training implementation.
  • Perform other job related tasks as directed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Records retention policies, TOMRMS knowledge an asset;
  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat;
  • Proven ability to provide accurate data entry and concise excel data into a meaningful recommendation for the report;
  • Experience in creating accessible documents;
  • Ability to work constructively within a team to meet time-sensitive milestones;
  • Experience dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information;
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Asset - understanding of accessibility compliance requirements and interest in accessibility advocacy;

 

Work Details:

  • $17.00/Hour
  • 35 Hours/Week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Position Description:

Description: The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Tourism Information Officer to be at the forefront of promoting the Town’s vibrant community to visitors. The Tourism Information Officer is responsible for the maintenance and day-to-day customer service related to Town Tourism Facilities. They assist visitors by providing them with information pertaining to local organizations, facilities and events as requested, and are also are responsible for ensuring the property is maintained and kept up to date as the summer progresses. Ultimately, they are stewards of the Town that promote all of the local business that can be found.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and information assistance to visitors by answering inquiries about local organizations, facilities, events and attractions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tourism facilities to ensure a welcoming environment for visitors.
  • Update and manage information resources, including brochures, maps and digital displays.
  • Act as a steward of the town by promoting local businesses, attractions, and events to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Collaborate with team members to support with special events or activities designed to showcase the Town’s unique offerings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary institution, preferably studying tourism, hospitality, marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and the general public verbally and in writing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for providing exceptional customer services.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Customer Service Experience
  • Able to be a team player as well as work independently
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet research.

McDougall Mill Museum Interpreter (Summer Employment )

Position Description:

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Interpreter for the McDougall Mill Museum.

Focused on the visitor experience, the interpreters are the main point of contact for museum visitors. They greet visitors, provide an orientation to the museum, answer questions and are available to provide guided tours and point out key artefacts. Interpreters are responsible for gift shop transactions and in person Museum Society memberships.

The interpreters follow a cleaning schedule that involves the washrooms, office and grounds, including watering gardens and hanging baskets. They are also responsible for the cleaning of the three floors of exhibitions that are accessible to the public. The interpreters are the front line staff who interact with school tours, summer day camp visits as well as group visits. They also prepare tables for special events such as Canada Day and exhibition openings. Lastly, interpreters play an important role in assisting the Museum Director and Assistant Museum Director helping to open and winterize the museum. This includes dressing mannequins, reorganizing exhibitions, setting up new exhibitions and putting artefacts away. The interpreters may also assist the Museum Director and Collections Coordinator with collections management activities such as inventory, data entry, rehousing collections in storage and cataloguing.

Qualifications:

· Secondary School Student

· Customer Service Experience

· Knowledge of Canadian and Renfrew history is an asset

· Ability to communicate with coworkers and the general public verbally and in writing

· Able to be a team player as well as work independently

· Ability to undertake self-directed learning

Work Details:

$17.55/Hour

35 Hours/Week (schedule varies – 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Position Description:

The Renfrew Public Library is now accepting applications for a Summer Reading Club Coordinator. Reporting to the Children’s Co-ordinator, the Summer Reading Club Coordinator plans, promotes and delivers the Library’s annual TD Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is “To the Stars!”.

The successful candidate will work up to 30 hours per week at a rate of $17.00 per hour. This position will be temporary in nature, and run from early May to late August. The successful candidate will plan, prepare, implement, promote and market a variety of creative, imaginative, engaging programs for children ages 2-13. This includes contacting schools and community groups to promote programs, designing ways to engage children online, in-library and out in the community. The successful candidate will also be required to learn basic library procedures as needed.

Qualifications

? Be a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the spring 2024 semester and be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2024

? Art/crafts, drama or storytelling skills

? Comfortable using online tools for delivery and promotion of services (i.e. Facebook, Zoom, Canva, Instagram, etc.)

? Previous experience working with children and the public considered an asset

? A love of reading and understanding of public libraries

? Good written, interpersonal, public speaking and leadership skills

? Ability and willingness to work as part of a team

? Highly motivated and able to work independently

? Able to work occasional evenings & weekends
