The Town of Renfrew is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Withers as the Town's permanent Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective July 27, 2026.

Mr. Withers has served as the Town's Acting Chief Administrative Officer on several occasions and has held the role continuously since November 2025, providing leadership and working closely with Council, staff, and the community during the transition period. Recognizing his dedication, experience, and commitment to the organization, Council has appointed Mr. Withers as the Town's permanent Chief Administrative Officer.

"Eric has been an integral part of the leadership team since the Town moved to a CAO model in 2022, serving in a Director capacity and consistently demonstrating professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to our organization and community. Since stepping into the role of Acting Chief Administrative Officer, he has provided steady leadership, earned the confidence of Council and staff, and ensured the continued delivery of quality municipal services. Council is pleased to welcome Eric to this role on a permanent basis, and we look forward to his continued contributions as we build on the important work underway in Renfrew."

CAO Withers brings more than a decade of municipal experience to the position. Prior to serving as the Acting CAO, Mr. Withers served Renfrew as Town Planner from 2019 - 2022, and as a Director since 2022, carrying a variety of portfolios and responsibilities as the Town moved through the post-CAO transition period. He was appointed as the Deputy CAO in 2024 to provide broad organizational leadership and support to the CAO. Prior to the Town of Renfrew, he served in roles of progressive responsibility in planning and development functions in both municipal and consulting contexts. Mr. Withers is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP). He also holds a variety of post-secondary and professional education credentials that complement his leadership experience and contribute to his effectiveness in the role of Chief Administrative Officer.
