Attention owners, operators, landlords, and property managers for a business or community organization located in the Town of Renfrew. Due to changes in Provincial recycling regulations the following changes will affect your recycling starting January 5, 2026:

Curbside Collection

• Non-residential curbside recycling collection will occur on Friday. Your Garbage collection day will not change and if you have residential tenants their recycling day will not change.
• If you are located in the downtown core, weekly cardboard collection will now be collected bi-weekly.
• Curbside collection will occur on the same alternating (co-mingled containers/ fibre cardboard) weekly schedule as the residential program.
• The list of recyclable materials will be expanded to match the residential program which now includes flexible plastic, black plastic, Styrofoam and certain empty aerosols.
• Collection information material (calendar, sorting guide, garbage holiday schedule, etc.) is available upon request or from the BIA/Chamber of Commerce.

Landfill Recycling drop-off

• Recycling can still be dropped off for free at the Renfrew Landfill, however starting in January, non-residential users will have their own dedicated bins, separate from the recycling drop off bins for residential users. If you use the landfill recycling drop off please let the landfill attendant know that you are a business or community organization so that they can direct you to the correct recycling area.

Affected organizations for which we were able to find email addresses for were sent an email outlining these changes on December 19, 2025. If your organization received an email but does not use the curbside recycling service and is unlikely to in the near future, please let us know and we will remove you from the mailing list.
