The Bonnechere River Hiking Trail was built with the support of local volunteers and funding from the Ontario Conservation Accelerator in the spring of 2025. 1.2 km of trail opened to the public on July 1, 2025. For more information on the trail please visit the Trails page.
Additional work is required to improve the the trail, including: development of switchbacks, vegetation pruning, drainage improvements, and the installation of a picnic table. The meeting point for volunteers is at the trailhead located at 390 Forestview Crescent, Renfrew (end of Forestview Crescent). Volunteers must be capable of manual labour, and have sturdy closed toed footwear and clothing appropriate for outdoor work. Those between 14-18 must have written permission from a parent or guardian (form available using the link below), those under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This opportunity is eligible for high school volunteer hours.
