(Renfrew, Ontario) – The Town of Renfrew is launching a Community Support, Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Initiatives Project. The project is being led by the Town of Renfrew Community Services Department in partnership with Kate Monahan from The Quiet Guiding Company and Becky Wright from Milestone Consulting.

“The Town of Renfrew is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community,” says Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney. “This initiative will help make Renfrew a safe, welcoming and accepting community for all.”

As part of the project, a three-year strategic plan will be created to guide the town and create awareness around anti-racism, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. This initiative will also include staff training, community programs and an art project.

Community members are invited to participate in focus group sessions on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 at the Renfrew Visitor Information Centre, located at 190 Mask Road. The first session is scheduled from 3:00pm to 4:30pm and the second session will run from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Those planning to attend are asked to register online in advance. REGISTER HERE

“By engaging local residents and stakeholders, the Town of Renfrew will develop short and long-term strategies to align with priorities that have been identified by community members,” says Director of Community Services Kelly Thompson. “The focus groups will present an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts on what makes a welcoming community and highlight strengths and challenges currently experienced in Renfrew.”

The Town of Renfrew is grateful for grant funding received through Heritage Canada to undertake the Community Support, Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Initiatives Project.
