Renfrew Volunteer and Coach Grant Lavallee Recognized by Mayor and Council
Renfrew Town Council has recognized a long-time volunteer and coach.

Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney says, “Renfrew is very fortunate to have a lot of generous people that give their time, but one in particular recently has been recognized by the Governor General of Canada.”

At the RCAF Wing in Renfrew on Thursday, September 21st, 2023, Mayor Sidney presented Grant Lavallee with the Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.

Sidney adds, “It was important to have Grant attend a Council meeting to be recognized and thanked for the thousands of hours of volunteering and athletes he’s helped.”

Grant Lavallee and members of his family were invited to the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, September 27th, 2023, where he was presented with a scroll of appreciation and recognition for his efforts and contributions.

The Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields and pays tribute to the dedication and commitment of volunteers. Nominations can be submitted online and to be eligible for the award, volunteers need to have made significant, sustained, and unpaid contributions to their community in Canada or abroad.
