Full-time Maintenance/Labourer, Infrastructure & Public Works Department

Under the supervision of the Works Foreman and Assistant Foreman, the Maintenance/Labourer is responsible for maintenance, repairs, cleaning and general upkeep of Town properties and facilities. High levels of professionalism and discretion are required due to regular interactions with the public.


Competency Profile:

  • Valid DZ driver’s license
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Reporting to the Town Garage
  • Ability to perform physical work in all four seasons
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and ratepayers
  • Be a team player as well as work independently
  • Experience in operation of municipal equipment is an asset
  • Ability to assist in mechanical repairs is an asset
  • Must be available to respond to emergencies when called and assume on call duties
  • This is a unionized position in the CUPE Local 121 bargaining unit
  • The Full-time Maintenance/Labourer rate is $24.86 per hour (2022 Rate)
  • Evening and weekend work required based on weather and other emergencies
  • Position requires rotation of on-call duties and appropriate response times
  • Normal hours of work is 80 hours over a two-week period on a flexible basis
